Formed in 2001, the band has been steaming up bar windows along the East Coast with their infectious Ronettes-meets-the-Ramones-by-way-of-Radio-Birdman stomp. Since bursting out of the garage and onto the stage, they have snapped up prime slots playing alongside Dick Dale, The Romantics, The Shadows of Knight, The Dirtbombs, Shonen Knife, The Woggles, Nikki and the Corvettes, The Downbeat 5, Muck and The Mires and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. In November of 2003 Thee Minks unleashed their 4 song debut 7", Songs About Boys, on Steel Cage Records (now in it's third pressing!) on an unsuspecting world, resulting in some much deserved attention and adoration from garage rock radio and press, locally and globally. They then recorded their much anticipated "sophomore" record, Are You Ready Now? (also on Steel Cage). They represented the U.S. with two previously unreleased raucous rockers on the Hellbound Honeys compilation on Australias Off The Hip Records, and two live raw bashers recorded at the Asbury Lanes bowling alley are featured on the Garage Mayhem compilation CD on Head Shop Records. Additional rock candy can be found on the Gotham Garage compilation CD on Enoch Records and the Get Out Of Philly compilation CD. "I Wanna Do A Woggle" (from Are You Ready Now?), is also getting regular play on Sirius Satellite Radio's Underground Garage - check it out! Currently, Thee Minks have recorded and mixed two new songs at 1935 studios and just finished recording and mixing two MORE songs at Third Story Recording for their next release. Check out pics from both studios on our MySpace page! |
